Parkland's Emergency Room is one of the busiest in the country. In 2012, the emergency room had over 142,000 visits-almost 12,000 each month.
Because of the large amount of patients, the Emergency Room staff diligently work to triage patients quickly, identify the most acute conditions and ensure they receive the care they desperately need. Patients are triaged within five minutes of arrival, and periodically monitored in the waiting room in case their condition changes. Patients presenting with less acuity are redirected to the Urgent Care Clinic on Parkland's first floor for urgent care and referred to one of the 11 community-based clinics for primary care.
The Emergency Room is located off of Southwestern Medical Avenue on the back side of the main hospital building . Go to Parking for more information on accessing the emergency room.
