Parkland's Emergency Room is one of the busiest in the country. Currently, Parkland's Emergency Department is staffed with 105 nurses who work in a variety of roles. In 2005, the emergency room had over 143,000 visits.

At the request of Parkland ER nurses, Mayor Laura Miller and the Dallas City Council announced the official proclamation of Emergency Nurses Week to be Oct. 8-14 in recognition of the hard work and dedicated service to those in the most dire need. The proclamation was presented to a group of Parkland ER nurses in October 2006.

Emergency Nurses save lives every day and have a unique and demanding role that requires a great deal of dedication and compassion. The Parkland emergency nurses are an outstanding example of the best and brightest in our field.
