The core of the Parkland Health & Hospital System is Parkland Memorial Hospital, which was founded in 1894 by the City of Dallas.

Although established to serve the indigent sick, the working poor and special populations with special needs who cannot get the care they need in their own hospital or region, Parkland also has cared for some of the very wealthy, who understand the value and expertise that Parkland brings to the community.

For more than 110 years, Parkland has been the safety net hospital for Dallas County. But our role goes beyond the safety net. It encompasses early access, primary care and preventive medicine. We believe that all patients should be treated as individuals in a patient-centered way; while at the same time we must work with entire populations to create healthier communities. We also recognize that although we have a methodology of bringing primary and preventive care to the community, we have not fully deployed that model. Ultimately, we must improve the life of the community.

Today, our Dallas County hospital is ranked among the best hospitals in the United States and we are here for anyone and everyone who needs our service. At Parkland, we believe health care is precious and must be made available to all.
