Annual Competency Validation

Purpose: To evaluate and document current competencies of the licensed nurse and the unlicensed assistive personnel in the performance of specified skills.

Process: You will receive a packet from your nurse educator which will include your list of specific competencies and skills checklists. This year, instead of everyone crowding into Support Bldg. B for a week to complete your skills, you will have a month to complete them on your unit. The goal is to validate competency at the bedside. Some of you may have learning modules loaded in your Learning Management System profile (www.phhstraining.org) to complete.

Under the Competency Validation tab (left hand column), you will find a skills checklist link and a procedure link. All skills checklists and procedures are listed alphabetically.

You will have until November 1st to complete your skills checklists on your units. If you staff in multiple areas of the hospital, please ensure you complete the required competencies in each of those areas.

A follow-up event will be held the second week of November for those unable to complete their competency validations in their clinical setting.
