The Critical Care with emphasis in Infectious Diseases PGY2 program focuses on the development and management of a clinical practice in various intensive care settings.
Emphasis will be on application of clinical skills to enhance multidisciplinary and pharmacist-managed patient care. The residency centers on the development of the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to pursue rational drug therapy. It is a 12 month training program designed to comply with the standards established by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. The residency program begins in July and runs through June of the following year.
Competency will be evaluated in the following areas: leadership and practice management skills, optimizing outcomes through evidence-based pharmacotherapy as an independent clinician, excellence in the provision of training, research, management of medical emergencies as well as serving as an authoritative resource in the areas of critical care and infectious disease.
Pharmacists completing this residency will be specialists in providing pharmaceutical care within multiple intensive care environments both in individual and interdisciplinary areas.

On-Site Interviews:
On-site interviews are required for those pursuing the Critical Care Residency. Our on-site interview process at Parkland begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes around 4 p.m. As part of the interview process, we are asking our candidates to prepare a 30 minute presentation for members of our Residency Advisory Council.
