We will begin moving our patients to the new hospital on Thursday, August 20, and continue through Saturday, August 22.
Each patient will be moved to the new hospital across the Mike A. Myers Sky Bridge. Clinical staff will be stationed along the route to monitor our patients’ well-being during the physical transport.
For the safety of our patients and staff, no visitors or family members may travel across the sky bridge with patients as they are relocated to the new hospital. Our top priority is to ensure the absolute safety of every patient in our care as we make the move across Harry Hines Boulevard.
When it is time for the patient to move across the sky bridge, family and visitors will be asked to go the main lobby of the new hospital. Once in the lobby, Guest Services staff at the front desk can give family and visitors directions and the patient’s new room number once it becomes available.
The sky bridge will open to the public following the patient move on Sunday, August 23. This is to protect the safety and privacy of our patients being moved across the sky bridge into the new hospital.
Please see Parking, shuttle and valet services for more information on how to travel across the campuses.
A volunteer will transport one bag of patient belongings across the sky bridge to the new hospital. A bag will be provided. Family members and guests are asked to please take home flowers, balloons and heavy bags before the move. For everyone’s safety, only one bag may travel with the patient across the sky bridge. No
carts will be available to move belongings.
We ask that any valuables, including money, jewelry, eyeglasses and clothing, are given to family members during the move or secured with the Business Office. Your nurse can help you contact the Business Office. Parkland is not responsible for valuables left at the bedside.
Patients, visitors and guests may park in the Tower Garage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The garage is located at 2120 Medical District Drive next to the new Parkland hospital. The fee is $5.
Two DART shuttle routes will be available to service both campuses. See the New Parkland Shuttle Routes.
Valet parking is available at the front entrance of the new Parkland hospital. The fee is $10.
To walk between campuses on Harry Hines Blvd., please use the crosswalk at Lofland Drive.
Our Guest Services staff is here to provide you with great customer service. Simply look for staff in the green T-shirts. We are here to help you find your way in the hospital, find patients and their room numbers and look up appointments.
Guest Services staff is located throughout the hospital:
