The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law in March 2010 created a new way to buy health insurance called the Health Insurance Marketplace. Health insurance plans in the new Marketplace offer full coverage, from doctors to medications to hospital visits. The Marketplace helps you easily find health insurance that fits your budget. It also allows you to compare all your insurance options based on price and benefits.
You can get information about all the plans available in your area and enroll yourself and your family through the Marketplace website, www.healthcare.gov. The site also can help you enroll in the plan you choose.
For Dallas County residents who qualify, Parkland HEALTHplus helps pay for health care services, though it is not health insurance. For more information about the Affordable Care Act and Parkland HEALTHplus, see the frequently asked questions.
