Parkland will host Diabetes Grand Rounds events at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday,
May 5, and 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, at the Community Medicine
Quarterly Forums at Fellowship Dallas, 9330 North Central Expressway,
Dallas 75231. All Parkland primary care providers, including physicians,
nurses, social workers and pharmacists, are invited to attend. The
presenters will include Robert E. Ratner, MD, FACP, FACE, Chief Scientific
and Medical Officer of the American Diabetes Association; Luigi
Meneghini, MD, MBA, Professor and Executive Director of the Global
Diabetes Program at Parkland, and Professor, Division of Endocrinology,
UT Southwestern; and Noel Santini, MD, FACP, Medical Director & Chief
of Adult Medicine for Community Medicine at Parkland.
These grand rounds coincide with the launch of a collaborative
quality improvement project called “Diabetes INSIDE” with the
American Diabetes Association (ADA) and Intelligent Medical Decisions,
Inc. (iMD), which aims to identify patients for earlier intervention and
better management of Type 2 diabetes. Parkland is one of only three
sites in the U.S. selected to participate in this project, and approximately
3,000 Parkland patients could be impacted by the program.
