Nine RNs honored for commitment, dedication
Five registered nurses at Parkland Health & Hospital System have been named winners of the prestigious 2015 D Magazine Excellence in Nursing Awards. Four additional Parkland nurses were selected as finalists in the annual recognition that celebrates outstanding nurses in the Dallas area.
The nurses were honored by D Magazine in an effort “to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of healthcare,” the magazine stated.
“We are thrilled that so many of Parkland’s outstanding nurses were recognized as finalists and winners in this year’s competition,” said Ron Laxton, DNP, RN, Chief Operating Officer. “These professionals are the backbone of any health system and Parkland is blessed with an extraordinarily committed, compassionate and talented group of nurses.”
Parkland nurses have frequently been named finalists in the annual awards event, but this is the first time that Parkland had five finalists named as winners.
Honored as winners in their categories are:
- Community Health: Sobha Fuller, MSN, NEA-BC, RN-BC, PCMH CCE, Director of Nursing, Community Oriented Primary Care
- Neurosurgery: Jennifer Hoeft, RN, ACNP-BC, Nurse Practitioner II, Trauma
- Geriatrics: Sarah Wick, MSN, RN, Nurse Practitioner III, Parkland Center for Internal Medicine
- Oncology: Sandy Renay Lindsey, RN-OCN, Unit Manager II, Infusion Therapy
- Women’s Health: Shanna Atnip, MSN, WHNP-BC, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse III, Gynecology Clinics
Parkland nurses named as finalists are:
- Adult Intensive Care: Brandi Perez, BSN, RN, CCRN, Registered Nurse III, Surgical Intensive Care Unit
- Neurosurgery: Celestine Anyanka, BSN, RN, Registered Nurse II, 5 North – Neurosurgery
- Leadership: Jacqueline Brock, MSN, RN, Vice President of Nursing, Surgical Services
- General Practice: Nosheen Meghani, MS, RN, FNP, Nurse Practitioner II, Jail Health
