The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is dedicated to helping our patients recover from life-changing illnesses or injuries. Our trained experts provide high quality, compassionate care for those in need of inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation services.
Our acute inpatient rehabilitation floor is a 17-bed unit where patients begin to recover from their illness or injury while in the hospital. Our goal is to restore your independence, strength and view of your future after a serious brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke or orthopaedic or brain disorder.
Our experts include doctors, nurses, therapists, dietitians, social workers and others, all of whom work with each patient to develop your own care plan to help you heal.
Physical therapists work with all ages and their families on a personal plan to help cope with an illness or injury. We teach you how to prevent or take care of your condition which will help you live a longer, healthier life.
Our physical therapists examine each patient and develop a plan to help you move easier, and to reduce pain, restore function and prevent disability. In addition, physical therapists help prevent the loss of mobility before it happens by developing personal plans focused on fitness and wellness for healthier and more active lifestyles.
Occupational therapists provide rehabilitation that will let you take care of basic tasks of daily living.
This includes relearning how to get dressed, exercising to improve function and safely preparing a meal. Our occupational therapy team works with patients to increase their active movement, improve strength, train them in the use of medical devices and equipment and provide education for you and your family.
Our speech language pathologists provide services for adults and infants for speech disorders, cognitive communication disorders, head and neck cancer and voice disorders. We also help children and adults who have a hard time communicating as a result of a brain injury.
Our outpatient rehabilitation staff partner with you to help meet your rehab goals and needs. Our dedication to providing high quality, compassionate care can make an important difference in your rehabilitation success and change your outlook on the future.
