Dr. Lauren McDonald
Dr. Lauren McDonald is the current chair of the Parkland Board of Managers. She is also a board-certified nephrologist and a partner in Dallas Nephrology Associates.

She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree with honors in Biochemistry from Brown University. She also completed her medical education at Temple University School of Medicine. Dr. McDonald completed a residency in Internal Medicine at St. Paul Medical Center, where she also served as Chief Medicine Resident. Additionally, she completed a nephrology clinical fellowship at Parkland Memorial Hospital and a nephrology research fellowship at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. McDonald is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. McDonald has been a member of the Board of Managers for six years. In addition to her current position, she has also served as secretary and vice chair, and chaired the Human Resources, Quality & Risk Management Committee, Joint Conference Committee and the Executive Compensation Committee.

She has also served as president of the St. Paul Medical Center staff, Chairman of the Pharmacy Therapeutics Committee and has been a member of the Dallas County Medical Society Board of Directors. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis, the American Society of Nephrology, the Dallas County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, the National Kidney Foundation, Texas Lyceum Association, and the Junior League of Dallas.

Dr. McDonald is the recipient of the 2000 AMA Leadership Award, and "She Knows Where She is Going" from Girls, Inc.


Louis Beecherl, III

Louis Beecherl, III
Louis Beecherl, III is a member of the Parkland Board of Managers, and is a licensed
professional engineer in the state of Texas.

He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Chemical Engineering. He has worked in technical and management positions of the upstream energy business for both independent and major energy companies.

Mr. Beecherl is a member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, and the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association. He serves as a member of the University of Texas at Austin Engineering Advisory Board and is a member of the Development Board of the University of Texas at Dallas.

Mr. Beecherl and his wife Cynthia have four children and are members of Highland Park
Presbyterian Church.


Wendy Lopez

Wendy Lopez
Wendy Lopez has been named to Parkland Health & Hospital System's Board of Managers.

For the last year, Lopez has served as chairperson of the Blue Ribbon Panel, a committee created by the Dallas County Commissioner's Court to study options for the future of Parkland facilities.

Lopez is co-founder and chief executive officer of LopezGarcia Group. Under her leadership, the firm has expanded its practice into multiple areas of engineering, environmental services and planning. She received her Master of Science in Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

She is a past president of the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners and chaired the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce Women's Business Council for two years. She was the first Hispanic woman elected as President of The Dallas Assembly. She is active in the Hispanic 100, ACE (Architecture, Construction, Engineering) Mentor Program of Dallas-Fort Worth and the Trinity Common Foundation.

Lopez is the recipient of numerous professional and civic awards including the 2007 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Southwest Region, Real Estate/Construction category, the 2007 She Knows Where She's Going Award from Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas; and the 2006 Athena Award presented by the Greater Dallas Chamber.


 

Cobie Russell

Cobie Russell was appointed to the Parkland Board of Managers in April, 2008. Since 2005, she has served as a member of the Blue Ribbon Panel, appointed by the Dallas County Commissioners Court to study and review options for the future of Parkland facilities.

Russell is a long-time community leader, holding many volunteer and civic positions that impact both the education and arts in Dallas County. Among those, she has served as a commissioner for the Texas Commission for the Arts since 2003. Since 1997, she has reviewed charter school applications for the Texas Education Agency and she was a member of the Advertising Review Committee for the State Bar of Texas from 2003 to 2006.

Russell earned a bachelor's degree in political science and fine art from Wells College in Aurora, N.Y. She served as an instructor at Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet High School during the first year the school began offering a curriculum focused on the arts.


Dalton Lott
Dalton Lott is a member of the Parkland Board of Managers. He is also founder and CEO of Club Marketing Services, which provides sales and marketing services to wholesale clubs like Sam’s, Wal-Mart, and Costco.

Mr. Lott holds a Bachelor's Degree and an honorary Doctorate from Baptist Christian College. He began his career as a salesman for a major food distributor, and soon became a principal in Oliver Taylor Food Brokerage Company in Dallas. He formed Club Marketing Services in the early 1980s, and today the firm has offices across the country, with its base in Duncanville, Texas. Mr. Lott also owns and manages Century Aviation, Jet Center of Dallas, Brand Specialists, Pro-Active Marketing, Omni Industrial Corporation, Duncanville Dairy Queen, The Surf Inn and Oak Grove Campground in Branson, Missouri. He is currently vice chairman of the Metro Economic Development Corporation, and a member of the steering committee for the University of North Texas at Dallas.

Mr. Lott has long been active in civic affairs in Duncanville. He is a past president of both the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. He has received the Chamber Community Service Award, and is recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation. He has served on the Duncanville Plan Commission, as director of the Education Foundation, and a board member of Students in Free Enterprise.

He lives in Duncanville with his wife, Linda, a retired elementary school teacher.


Dr. Allan Shulkin
Dr. Allan Shulkin is a member of the Parkland Board of Managers. He also has a solo practice, specializing in pulmonary disease.

Dr. Shulkin received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his medical education at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and completed a residency and internship in medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He also completed a fellowship in pulmonary disease at UT-Southwestern Medical School.

Dr. Shulkin is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine with a sub-specialty in pulmonary disease and special qualifications in critical care medicine. He is founder and officer for Physicians for Patient Power, a fellow with the American College of Physicians, on the board of directors for the Dallas County Medical Society, and a member of the American Thoracic Society, Texas Medical Association, American College of Chest Physicians, and American Medical Association. He is a part of several honorary medical societies, including Phi Beta Sigma, Phi Alpha Theta, Phi Beta Kappa, and Alpha Omega Alpha.

He has been a member of the Zionist Organization of America, Anti-Defamation League Regional Board, Jewish Federation of Dallas Board of Directors, and chairman of special projects for the United Jewish Appeal Men's Young Leadership Cabinet.

Dr. Shulkin lives and practices in Dallas.


Alan Walne
Alan Walne is a member of the Parkland Board of Managers. He is also President of Bottom Line Consultants, and Chairman of the Board for five Herb's Paint & Body Shops throughout the Metroplex.

Mr. Walne holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Finance from Texas Tech University. In addition to Herb's Paint & Body Shops, Mr. Walne is on the advisory committee for the Auto Paint & Body Job Training Centers at Eastfield, and El Centro Colleges. He is also chairman of the Dallas ASA Body Shop, a member of the Dallas committee of the Inter-Industry Council on Auto Repair, and the Salesmanship Club of Dallas.

He served as the district 10 representative on the Dallas City Council, where he served on the Business & Commerce, Finance & Audit, Legislative Affairs, and Transportation & Telecommunications committees. He has also served the city of Dallas in many other ways outside of the City Council. He been on the board of directors for the State Fair of Texas, SBC Cotton Bowl, White Rock YMCA, Trinity Commons, Dallas Black Chamber, Dallas Civil Service, and Dallas Parks & Recreation.

Mr. Walne has been a member of the Texas Natural Resources Conservation Commission, Richardson Chamber of Commerce, Plano Chamber of Commerce, Lake Highlands VOCT Advisory Committee, Young Life Ministries, and the Doctors Hospital Governing Board.

Mr. Walne is married with two children, and lives with his wife, Joan, in Lake Highlands, where he has lived for over 40 years.
