The Dallas County Hospital District, doing business as Parkland Health & Hospital System, is governed by a seven-member Board of Managers appointed by the Dallas County Commissioners Court. Five members of the Board are selected by individual Court officials, the remaining two serve in an at-large capacity. Members of the Board of Managers are appointed for two-year terms and are limited to three terms – or six years. They may, however, fill a vacancy created when a member resigns, and then serve another six years if re-appointed by the Commissioners Court. Board members meet the fourth Tuesday of each month and do not receive compensation for their service. The Board is responsible for governing policies, and also has budgetary oversight for the hospital district. Parkland's president and chief executive officer is the only employee who reports directly to the Board of Managers. Board of Managers |
