Area’s top nurses to be recognized on April 15
Sixteen registered nurses at Parkland Health & Hospital System are among those being honored as 2018 Dallas/Fort Worth Great 100 Nurses. The program has been celebrating nursing excellence for 29 years, honoring nurses from all practice areas including acute care, sub-acute care, school nursing, nurse leaders, academics and more.
The Parkland RNs earning recognition are: Pyari Abraham, Perla Alviar, Justin Buchert, Adam Golden, Catherine Harvey, Shannon Jeter, Melanie King, Meredith McLean, Reagan Power, Kellie Rodriguez, Samantha Rowley, Cassie Thompson, Susamma Samuel, Benita Solano, Teresa J. Taylor and Swann Waterhouse.
Nurses being honored for the annual award were selected from more than 750 nominations submitted by patients, families, colleagues, teachers and co-workers. The 2019 DFW Great 100 Nurses will be recognized during a reception and dinner on April 15 at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.

A total of 4,131 nurses are currently employed system-wide at Parkland serving patients at inpatient, outpatient and Dallas County Jail facilities. They provide vital care in specialties ranging from primary care to anesthesiology, oncology, emergency services, labor and delivery, behavioral health services, diabetes, neurology, cardiology and many more.
The Great 100 celebration raises the awareness of the contributions of nurses to patient care, research, leadership, education and community service of nurses practicing in the DFW area. In addition, the celebration builds the image of nursing through positive reinforcement of the profession as a scientific art and the recognition of those who exemplify excellence.
