As part of the 2019 IPPS Final Rule, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires hospitals to make a listing of standard hospital charges available online. In compliance with this federal law, Parkland makes a complete list of standard charges, including pharmacy charges, available to patients. The lists provided represents the charges for individual items and services.
It is rare that a visit to the hospital will only include one of these services and because of the nature of healthcare, it is difficult to know in advance which services a patient may need during his or her visit. Total charges for a service or a procedure will vary based on the combination of services provided, including hospital fees, physician fees, drugs, supplies, lab tests or radiology procedures. Additionally, if you receive care at one of our hospital-based facilities, you may receive a hospital facility charge in addition to a professional charge.
Parkland Hospital is committed to helping patients make informed choices about their care by providing information about healthcare costs. Parkland can provide patient estimates for services upon request. Please contact our Patient Access & Procedure Pricing Inquiry Line at 214-590-4551 for price estimates for services.
Also in compliance with federal law, Parkland makes available a list of the average charge total for inpatient episodes of care listed by Diagnosis-Related Grouping (DRG). A DRG is a summarized and simplified classification of inpatient care as defined by Medicare.
