Parkland nurses Carolyn Gamble, RN, Justin Milici, RN, Trinette Pierre, RN, and Sarah Towery, RN, will be honored as
Dallas/Fort Worth Great 100 Nurses at a celebration at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 14 at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center .They were selected from more than 700 nominations submitted by patients, families, colleagues, teachers and co-workers for the annual award.
Between them, Parkland’s four distinguished nurses have more than 80 years of providing high quality, safe patient care. The DFW Great 100 Nurses awards celebration was founded in 1991 by Beth Mancini, PhD, RN, Parkland’s former Chief Nursing Officer.
Carolyn, Unit Manager III for 3 East, knew she wanted to become a nurse from an early age. “My decision was sealed when a Parkland nurse showed me an enormous amount of compassion during a stressful time as a patient,” she said.
Sarah, Nurse Educator in
Clinical Education, said, “I truly feel that my calling to be a nurse stretches beyond the walls of Parkland and lies with my family, friends and the community. I am always a nurse and never really turn it off.”
Trinette, Unite Manager III for 10 West, echoes the sentiment. “I pursued a neonursing career because I wanted to be one who showed compassion and kindness to those who were in need. I was blessed to have an older sister in the nursing field. I watched how gently and compassionately my sister interacted with her patients in the
Neonatal ICU environment. I wanted to follow in her caring footsteps.”
In describing a Great 100 Nurse, Justin, who is a Registered Nurse III in the
Emergency Department, said, “A Great 100 Nurse means one is truly committed and dedicated to the nursing profession and has been recognized for the numerous contributions made to the profession, both at work and away from work.”
