Ten RNs honored for commitment, dedication
Ten registered nurses at Parkland Health & Hospital System have been named winners of the prestigious 2016 D Magazine Excellence in Nursing Awards.
The nurses were honored by D Magazine in an effort to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of healthcare.
“This speaks to the skill, dedication and talent of the outstanding nurses at Parkland,” said Karen Watts, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, Parkland’s Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. “These professionals set the standard of excellence for our entire nursing staff. We are proud that so many of Parkland’s nurses were recognized for their extraordinary care, compassion and dedication to the patients we serve.”
Honored as winners in their categories are:
- Leadership roles: Clifann McCarley, MBA, BSN, RN; Cindy Wheeler, RN
- Nurses in education roles: Sarah Towery, MSN, RN, CCRN-K
- Nurses in hospital settings: Susi Mani, RN-C; Brandi Perez, RN, BSN, CCRN

- Advanced practice registered nurses: Robert Metzger, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC; Jan Sumner, PhD, RN

- Nurses in sub-acute settings: Stephanie Collins-Matthews, DNP, RN, FNP-BC
